Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle In Gros Islet Succumbs

Saint Lucia police have confirmed the death of a pedestrian after a motor vehicle struck him in Gros Islet.

According to investigators, on Monday, July 8, 2024, at about 12:20 am, the Gros Islet Police Station received a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle at Grande Riviere, Gros Islet.

Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) emergency personnel transported the male pedestrian, identified as 50-year-old Christopher Augustin, to the OKEU Hospital, where he later passed away.

An autopsy on August 7 determined that the Norbert, Gros Islet resident’s death was due to multiple brain injuries.

So far, in 2024, fifteen people have died following road incidents.
