The global governing body for chess on Thursday announced a major honour for Saint Lucia Chess Federation president Tris-Ann Richards, who has been appointed chair of the FIDE Commission for Women's Chess.Richards is a woman candidate master, FIDE (World Chess Federation) arbiter, and certified chess instructor. She has worked to develop chess across the Caribbean and beyond. After serving as a councillor on the commission, she is now responsible for encouraging and supporting women and girls to take part in all areas of chess.
