The Central Castries senior men’s cricket team will face Babonneau in the Prime Minister’s T20 Cup final at Mindoo Phillip Park this weekend, after securing a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Choiseul.
The semifinal match was played at the Gros Islet Playing Field on Thursday.
After being put into the field, Central Castries restricted Choiseul to 147 runs in their allotted 20 overs, despite a threatening 44-run knock from Canis Richardson.
Several of Richardson’s teammates got off to promising starts with the bat, but none were able to build on their innings. Their efforts were further hampered by impressive bowling performances from Dillan John (2-24), Murgaran Shoullete (2-25), and Kymani Sexius (2-25).
In response, skipper Stephen Naitrum gave Central Castries a flying start with a blistering 31 off just 16 deliveries. However, the standout performance came from young Theo Edward, who produced a magnificent half-century, featuring six fours and four sixes. A commendable unbeaten 48 from Jamaal James ensured Central Castries chased down the target comfortably within 12 overs.
Now, Central Castries will face a formidable challenge against Babonneau in the final. Both teams have displayed remarkable poise and the necessary aggression to reach this stage, setting up what promises to be an electrifying contest.
