The field events for this year’s Island Champs games have now concluded. Students from across the island competed in intense disciplines, striving to earn points for their schools and improve their personal bests.

The competition is typically given two winners, one for the males and the other for the females. At this stage of the competition, St. Mary’s College (SMC) leads the standings for males with 65 points, while St. Joseph’s Convent (SJC) leads the standings for females with 63 points. The overall standing leader is the Saint Lucia Sports Academy on 81 points, followed by the Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary on 77 points.

Trailing the leaders in the male category is Micoud Secondary in second on 39 points, followed by Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School on 36 points. On the female side, Saint Lucia Sports Academy (SLSA) trails SJC with 49 points, followed by Vieux Fort Comprehensive with 41 points.

Among the standout performers was Jennica Albert, a 17-year-old student from Leon Hess Secondary School, who successfully defended her titles in both discus and shot put. She recorded throws of 24.79 metres and 11.80 metres, respectively.
