Millennium Highway residents have expressed bewilderment after a fatal stabbing on Wednesday following an alleged disagreement among men who appeared to be friends.

Dead as a result of the incident is thirty-five-year-old Danjuma Paul Butcher, a resident of Millennium Highway, Castries.

Initial reports indicated that two suspects accosted Butcher, causing varying injuries to his body, including stab wounds.

He was conveyed via private means to the Owen King European Union (OKEU) Hospital, where he succumbed.

Police have formally arrested two brothers in connection with the Island’s 70th homicide for the year.

“All of them eating and drinking together and that’s something that’s not supposed to happen around here. They living as one. I don’t understand how that happen,” one female resident told reporters.

Speaking anonymously, she recalled hearing of an altercation and, upon investigating, saw blood on the road.

“I just don’t understand how that happen,” the resident declared. “I don’t know the issue. I don’t know what’s going on.”

Another resident expressed sadness.

“I feel so sad because we all are one in the community. They raised together and for that to happen – it looking so bad,” the resident stated.

She felt whatever disagreement occurred did not have to involve a fatal stabbing.

The resident recalled admonishing one of the alleged perpetrators on Wednesday morning to avoid trouble.

“I was so shocked. The day did not end, I see he find himself in trouble,” she lamented.

The woman had a message for the youth: “Put the weapons down. Solve the problem without weapons and pray. Young people doesn’t pray nowadays. They don’t believe in God. If only you have faith and you believe in God, nothing like that would happen,” the woman asserted.

The police have appealed to anyone with information regarding the fatal stabbing to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 456-3770.
