Two Charged, Including Teenage Girl After Guns, Drugs Seized in Bois Patat

Two people from Bois Patat, Castries including a 15-year-old girl, were slapped with ten charges after being held in a police operation in which firearms, including a submachine gun, ammunition and illegal drugs were found.

The minor was remanded into custody until April 3, while 21-year-old Ashley Nelson was remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility until April 29, after appearing before a magistrate on Thursday, two days after the police operation in their community.

Officers from the Gang, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit, in collaboration with the Special Operations Team and Special Services Unit North, seized three firearms— a Glock 25 pistol, a 9mm pistol, and a prohibited submachine gun— as well as 196 rounds of ammunition and 1 071 grammes of cannabis.

Nelson and the teenager were charged with two counts of possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, two counts of possession of parts of a firearm, three counts of possession of ammunition, one count of possession of cannabis, and one count of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
