According to the preliminary statistics from the Electoral Department, 89 448 Saint Lucians cast ballots in the December 1 general election, out of 184 654 registered electors. The Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) emerged with 14 seats, while two independent candidates were returned to office. The United Workers Party (UWP) secured a single seat.
