Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Stuart Young.

Just one day after being sworn into office, Prime Minister Stuart Young has moved to dissolve Parliament, paving the way for general elections as he seeks his own mandate from the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

Citizens will go to the polls on Monday, April 28.

In a brief statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister on Tuesday, Young announced that he had advised President Christine Kangaloo to dissolve Parliament effective midnight on March 18, 2025, in accordance with Section 68 of the Constitution.

Nomination Day is set for Friday, April 4.

Young took the oath of office on Monday, succeeding Dr Keith Rowley who had previously resigned.
