A police operation in the capital has resulted in three arrests and the seizure of cannabis, cash, and ammunition.

Three men from Castries—proprietor Earland Charles of Carille, Darren Jason Charles of La Clery, and Daniell Didier of Ravine Chabot—were each granted bail when they appeared in court on Monday on multiple charges.

They were arrested last Friday, February 28, when officers from the Gang, Narcotics, and Firearms Unit of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) conducted a two-phase operation in the northern policing division.

According to a statement from the RSLPF, during the patrols in Castries, 36 people were searched, and drugs were taken from various shops on Jeremie Street. A search warrant was also executed at Liberation Bar, at the corner of Carl Crescent Street and Jeremie Street, which led to the discovery of 245 grammes of cannabis, 178 grammes of cannabis resin, EC$3 852 and US$153 in cash.

The three men were arrested in connection with those recoveries.

Search warrants were subsequently executed at the residences of each of the suspects. The search at Darren Charles’ residence uncovered 21 rounds of .380 ammunition.

He has been charged with possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply, possession of cannabis resin with intent to supply, and possession of ammunition. He was granted a total of $16 900 bail.

The other two, who were granted $15 000 bail, are charged with possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply, possession of cannabis resin, and possession of cannabis resin with intent to supply.

Authorities also revealed that Earland Charles was previously charged with drug possession offences in November 2024, and those matters are currently before the court.
