Saint Lucia vendors are preparing for their 29th biennial general meeting amid continuing challenges to their livelihood, including the need to become more innovative business people to attract greater revenue.
The Entrepot Human Resource Development Centre in Castries will be the venue for the January 12, 2025 event, which will receive a report from Association President Peter ‘Ras Ipa’ Isaac and an update on the organisation’s financial standing from the Treasurer.
Isaac, who has headed the Vendors Association for the past twenty-eight years and will seek reelection, told St. Lucia Times that a discussion and the election of officers will follow.
He said only individuals in good financial standing, more than half of the over 300 association members, can validly nominate candidates or vote.
Nevertheless, Isaac revealed that usually just about 100 members show up for biennial general meetings.
“We have never had a full house,” he recalled.
In addition, Isaac revealed that at the upcoming meeting, instead of the traditional awards ceremony, the association will have a cocktail reception for its members.
