Jamaican reggae sensation Sanchez is set to headline the first-ever Micoud Jazz Festival.

Renowned for his smooth vocals and ability to make both original reggae hits and R&B/pop covers uniquely his own, Sanchez remains one of Jamaica’s most beloved and prolific artists. Other performers include the all-female choral group Heart & Soul, the Invasion Band and Shayne Ross.

Speaking at the festival’s launch, Jeremiah Norbert, Parliamentary Representative for Micoud North, described Jazz en Vierge—as the event is officially called—as a long-awaited milestone.

“To be able to stand here tonight and to see this come to some sort of realisation gives me a sense of satisfaction. It gives me that feeling where you know you’ve been looking forward to something, and it’s actually going to happen,” Norbert said.

He said the goal was to deliver a world-class event worthy of the Micoud community.

“I think we deserve the best and this gives us a perfect opportunity to show the rest of Saint Lucia what the best is,” the MP said.

Norbert said the event is a community effort, spearheaded by a hardworking committee led by Louise Victor.

Victor said the upcoming festival was significant for Micoud residents.

“This is not just another addition to the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts calendar. Our focus is intended to uplift our community, to boost our community and to deliver this at a standard that Micoudians could feel proud, and for everyone who would have experienced it to come back for years to come,” she said.

The event, which will be set against the scenic backdrop of Pointe Vierge, which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, will be branded and promoted as Jazz en Vierge: The Micoud Experience 2025.

The all-white affair is scheduled for Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m.
