Saint Lucian Johnson Charles smashed a half-century for his International League T20 franchise, the Sharjah Warriorz, on Sunday, though it did not prevent their defeat to MI Emirates.
Despite his team’s eventual loss in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, Charles’ batting performance was crucial in helping his team post a total of 176 runs.
The game also featured fellow West Indies stars Keemo Paul, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Akeal Hosein, and Alzarri Joseph.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Charles scored 57 runs, hitting six fours and three sixes, with his on-drive being the most productive shot. His innings included a steady 50-run partnership with Avishka Fernando, who contributed 39 runs.
While Charles has traditionally been known for his leg-side dominance, he has expanded his game to off-side scoring, as seen in this innings.
This performance comes on the heels of his recent announcement that he will return to the Pakistan Super League, rejoining the Multan Sultans.
