In the past few days, after Minister of Foreign Affairs Alva Baptiste announced that Saint Lucia would be accepting third-country nationals deported from the United States, there has been a lot of public debate. Many people disagree with the government's decision, criticising it for giving in to US demands, failing to provide enough information to justify the policy, and adopting a coercive approach by Washington.
