Six-year-old Swahili Francis has been diagnosed with acute kidney failure and is currently in critical condition. He needs urgent dialysis treatment in Martinique, but his family is unable to afford the €40,000 (approximately EC$111,491.34) needed for his medical expenses.

Speaking to St Lucia Times, his mother, Cristy Francis recalled that Swahili fell ill on Christmas night, showing flu-like symptoms, including fever and coughing. His condition worsened, leading to hospitalisation at the St Jude’s Hospital on December 30. It was there that his doctor revealed that his kidneys had failed due to low electrolyte levels — a result of persistent vomiting that caused his kidneys to overwork.
“I am a young mother, and I’m trying to be strong, but honestly, it has been affecting me seeing him in this condition,” Cristy said. “I cry every night because I just want him to feel better.”
Swahili had no prior health issues, making his sudden decline even more devastating for the family.
“I just want him to be okay,” his mother added.
The family is now appealing to the public for financial assistance to help save Swahili’s life. Contributions of any amount are welcomed, as every donation brings the family closer to securing the urgent care he needs.
