National Green Party (NGP) Leader and community activist Andre “Pancho” de Caires has reacted to the reelection of Donald Trump as United States President.

The 45th and now 47th President defeated Democratic opponent Kamala Harris in Tuesday’s election by 69 electoral votes, placing him back in control of the world’s largest economy and the most advanced and globally powerful military.

“It was no surprise to me that Mr. Trump won, I actually won a bet. I do a lot of research, I follow a lot of politics from all over the country,” de Caires said in an interview with St. Lucia Times. “In different podcasts, I saw a shift in tone by the average American, so months ago I felt that the tide was definitely turning, and he did it. I believe that the Democrats’ vote agenda was too far left for the moderate Republican and the moderate Democrats.”

Among the key talking points for de Caires and the Green Party movement is the elimination of war globally.

Green parties worldwide are known for their anti-war stances and appeals for international peace talks. The local activist has faith that Trump’s approach to negotiation and his team can help with the war in Ukraine, but he is doubtful about the war in Gaza.

“What I do like about Trump is that he went and spoke to (North Korean President) Kim Jong-un, while the Democrats don’t want to speak. There must be communication at that level. We need to work out our differences at the table, looking at each other’s eyes, finding out what the problem is and working it out together. We’re in 2025 coming up, and we still behave like cavemen. There’s no need for war. War just fills the pockets of the military-industrial complexes worldwide. The people don’t want war. It’s the politicians who want war. The people want peace.

There is a lady called Tulsi Gabbard, she was a senator, she was with Bernie Sanders, and then she went on her own. She was a Democrat, she left the Democratic Party, and she is definitely anti-war in Ukraine. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was also anti-war, anti-foreign wars, and expansionists. Both of them are anti-war when it comes to Ukraine. They believe that the billions of dollars spent on Ukraine should have been spent on America and alleviating American suffering. It’s over a hundred billion dollars they’ve given to Ukraine. I believe they will be influential in the way that we negotiate, at least with how America negotiates with its enemies. Regarding Kim Jong-un and the Taiwan-China issue, I believe Mr. Trump may be able to negotiate some deals. As for the war in Gaza, both parties support the Zionist agenda of the Netanyahu regime, and both parties would fund Israel and Israel’s war machine against the helpless people in Gaza and the West Bank. I know both RFK and Tulsi Gabbard still support the Israeli regime. So I believe the wars in Ukraine will stop. I believe the war in Gaza will let Mr. Netanyahu continue the mass siege.”

Breaking down the reasons he believes President-elect Trump emerged victorious, de Caires stated the following:

“I think the COVID experience where a lot of people lost a lot, things that they worked for their whole life, lost a lot of businesses… We looked at the abortion issue, and it didn’t play because if you look at the results, it didn’t matter. Women still voted for Trump overwhelmingly.”
