Fish vendors in the City are to be relocated to the fisheries complex at Pointe Seraphine by early next month.

MP for Castries Central, Richard Frederick this week confirmed the imminent move.

When he announced the relocation in May last year, Frederick said the move was in keeping with efforts to improve the aesthetics of the City, as well as the development of the port, a new Halls of Justice and a Box Park for vendors.

“The fish vendors, they should be moving probably in the next two weeks,” Frederick told reporters at a pre-Cabinet media briefing.

“Before we move them, I ensured that they were prepared and built another facility to house them…. We embarked upon the construction of a facility, prior to even telling them, and they were part of the process….That place is nearing completion.”

The fish vendors typically operate on the Castries waterfront and on the sidewalk next to the Castries market.

The new location is within the fisheries complex at Pointe Seraphine, near the fishing landing bay area.
