With seven goals in just four games, sharpshooter Shamalyn Albert is making a name for herself in Martinique football, and helping her team climb the ranks of the regional league.

The Choiseul native travels back and forth to the French overseas department every weekend or two to ply her trade. And so far, her stock is only going up.

Playing for FC Avenir-Sainte Esprit, the 30-year-old attacking midfielder had four goals and four assists in a 10-1 rout of La Gauloise De Trinité FC. With this massive home win at Stade Du Sainte Esprit, Avenir are now fifth in the 11-team Liga de Fútbol Femenina de Martinique.

Also playing well for the Saint-Esprit team have been Saint Lucia national captain Ellaisa Marquis and Dominica national captain Romelcia Phillip.

The trio played a big role in helping Avenir reach the final of the Tour De France qualifiers, though they lost in the championship game.

The league resumes in early January, and Albert will be linking up with Marquis, Phillip, and their French teammates once more, as they aim to pile on more goals for 2025.
