Glock Found in Police Operation, Man Charged With Having Prohibited Weapon

An exercise conducted by the Special Operations Team of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) in the Northern Division on Monday resulted in the seizure of a firearm and ammunition and led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man who will spend Christmas on remand.

During the operation, officers carried out a series of stops and searches. A total of 56 people were searched and seven motorcycles were impounded.

About 4:40 p.m. officers stopped and searched a suspicious male, later identified as Kyle Castello, and found a Glock 9×19 pistol equipped with an auto sear and 16 rounds of 9 mm ammunition.

Castello was arrested and subsequently charged with of possession of prohibited weapon and possession of ammunition. He made a bail application, but has been remanded into custody.
