Further updates on the celebrations for the Saint Lucia Kings, following the capture of their maiden Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League title, have been announced.
As previously stated, these celebrations will take place during England’s tour of the West Indies, with nine of the victorious Kings squad members expected to be in attendance on the island.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Dr Uralise Delaire, recently disclosed the official date and planned festivities for the team.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Sandals Under-19 Cricket Tournament on October 24, Dr Delaire invited everyone present to what is expected to be a grand occasion.
“On the 12th of [November] we will be celebrating the Kings victory in Saint Lucia. And so I invite all of you to Castries where we’ll be meeting one on one with the players,” she said. “I invite all of you to come, [there will be] special opportunity for the players to take pictures and get autographs and whatnot signed with the players at the Constitution Park and [we’ll] have a concert and so on afterwards. So come and mingle.”
Following the Kings’ victory, the Minister for Youth Development and Sports, Honorable Kenson Casimir, expressed the importance of including young, aspiring athletes in the celebrations, allowing them the opportunity to interact with their heroes. Dr Delaire echoed these sentiments, adding:
“Special arrangements will be made for the teams. You come in uniform and you get to take a picture of the Kings players who will be on the island.”
