For the first time since 2018, Sharks Swim Club have captured the Capri-Sun National Championships.
The club tallied 1,340 points to lead hosts Sea Jays (1,110) and Lightning Aquatics (890). Southern Flying (259), RR Aquatic (144), and Rodney Heights Aquatics Club (66) also competed.
Sharks girls were especially dominant, outpointing Sea Jays 719 to 537, with LA third on 348. The Sharks boys got 621, compared to 573 for Sea Jays, and 542 for LA.
The quintet of Tammy and Abbie Pultie, Eden Crick, Mikaela Casimir, and Tamykh Bryan swept the 18 and over girls. Kayla-Marise Inglis won seven medals in 10 events to win the 13-14 division. And in eight and under, Emma Fortune was unbeaten, with Amber Francois second.
Sapphire Parks of Sea Jays had 10 gold medals in the 9-10 girls. Amara Reece of Lightning Aquatics won the 11-12. And Caitlin Polius of Sea Jays won 15-17.
The strong suit for Sharks boys was the 9-10 age group, where Tyler Dantes won eight gold medals in 11 individual events. Teammate Dylan Corcoran had three gold medals, whilst a third Shark, Khairi Elibox had four silver medals and five bronze.
Maxime Larrieu also won 11-12 boys, followed by fellow Shark, Caden Calderon.
Miles Andrew won eight and under boys for Sea Jays. Noah Dorville took 13-14 by just three points from teammate Jayden Xu. Lightning Aquatics won 15-17 through Karic Charles, and 18 and over via Diandre Edwin.
Approximately 150 swimmers were in action this weekend at the Rodney Heights Aquatics Centre, for the 12th edition of the Capri-Sun meet.
The meet on Saturday and Sunday was the main event for selection to the national team, which will compete at next month’s Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Swimming Championships.
The 32nd OECS meet is scheduled for November 8-10 at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre in Ratho Mill, St Vincent & the Grenadines.
