2 Da Max Netball Academy.
Saint Lucia’s 2 Da Max Netball Academy is one of four teams competing in the Nature Island Netball Showdown in Dominica this weekend. At the Windsor Park Sports Stadium, the veteran-led squad will face Chekira Spartans and Celtics from Dominica, as well as Colibri Girl from Guadeloupe.
Helmed by several-time former Netballer of the Year, coach-player Shem Maxwell, the Academy team includes Verne Alexander, Jo-Ann Anderson, Sanya Antoine, Lizzy Dorvius, Naija Ferdinand, Zena George, Etoa’ Oa Grey, Mya King, Semaj Marguerite, Jermia Martial, Kiana Nelson, and Patrina Wilson. Iza William is the manager, and Antoinette Paul assistant manager.
Maxwell told St Lucia Times that the team, reigning champions from the 2024 Independence Classic, received an invitation to this tournament last year.
She added that several of the players making the journey, most of whom are from outside of the Castries basin, have been coached by her from a young age. The team came together a little over two years ago.
The tournament opens on Thursday evening with two matches.
