Plant Grow Eat farm is offering a $10,000 reward for returning solar panels stolen from its Des Barras, Babonneau operation.

A partial reward is available for information leading to the recovery of the panels.

Individuals with information may call, text, or WhatsApp telephone number 724-6931.

One of Plant Grow Eat Directors, Peter Dillon, explained that the theft would severely impact the farm’s ability to restart mushroom production.

Dillon said production had halted primarily due to the absence of an enabling environment and support.

He said a 25-kilowatt solar field had facilitated the mushroom production.

The field, described as a substantial infrastructure, had been in place for the past six years.

But about three weeks ago, twenty of the panels disappeared.

“They literally came in and unbolted them off the frames, disconnected them and walked away with them which was a very dangerous thing to do,” Dillon told St. Lucia Times.

And last week, another forty-seven panels went missing.

“The panels are five feet by three feet. They’re not little,” Dillon disclosed, adding that there’s very little the thieves can do with the items.

He said the thieves broke into a container in addition to stealing the panels.

“They stole everything from forks to weed eater, wheelbarrows, an electric pump – they just cleaned it out. So they must have had a couple of trucks,” Dillon stated.

Police have received a report and have launched an investigation.
